It was obvious Mac wouldn’t be drawn into any conversation about Selene. “I gave you an offer once,” He knew asking Al again wasn’t the right thing to do, yet, he’d try anything then to stop the pain in Al’s voice.
“I said I love you; that’s something we can work with.” He held back from saying anything beyond talking about him and Al. “We can keep Bella and try to sort out our own relationship too.”
Unlike before there was no begging in his voice. Mac still had a smidgen of pride left even though Al had managed to break him more than once. “We can’t stay here.”
